Surprised that Paul Helmke had the guts to go on Colbert’s show. He tried to play it straight, and played right into Colbert’s hands. Didn’t he watch how Colbert made short work of O’Reilly? If you go on his show with that sense of righteous indignation, you’re gonna get skewered.

I love it when he tries to answer the “whattya do when I come at ya with a knife” type question. He finishes with tossing Helmke a lifeline, spouting off the usual “think of the children, and you’re more likely to kill yourself than a bad guy” nonsense, but overall I think that’s not an environment where someone as devoid of a sense of humor as Paul Helmke can prosper. Colbert lives to immolate people on quixotic power trips who are so full of themselves and buying their own press.
