Never mind that the student body at Tech and the University administration has asked for people to quietly respect their wishes on the 16th; the Brady Bunch sounds like they’re coming anyway.
Do they really think people won’t see this for the classless move it it? I’ve met Pete Hamm a few times and found him pretty friendly and courteous. I’m frankly shocked at the lack of sensitivity and just plain common sense this reflects.
You won’t see me parading around at Tech talking about self defense or how someone armed might have stopped the attacker before he killed so many that day. I know when the time to drop the politics and just be a human being is. Why can’t the Bradys?
My guess: desperation. They’ve lost money, momentum, and the popular opinion (and are dreading the Heller decision). They need whatever press they can get, even if it’s really, really negative.

As huge of a tragedy as this was there is no community more able to deal with it then that of VA Tech. I know because I’m apart of that community and I saw it first hand.
I don’t know how much regard I ever had before for the student council, but they were spot on at the time when they told the media, “That’s enough, you’ve got your story, now please leave”, and they are spot on again now when they ask again to be left alone.
This has a place in the “gun debate” and God knows I how I feel about it having spent many an afternoon after classes on the local pistol/rifle range with my buddies.
But Blacksburg on this day is not the day to be a jackass trying to make a point.
