Another gun free zone shooting.
Thinking about gun free zones, and the responses to our criticisms of them by antis, I’ve come to realize that they’re probably not really thinking that gunbannery is actually going to stop this sort of thing from happening.
They just don’t think you should get to defend yourself from it. Poignant distinction, when you come to realize what that really amounts to: a belief that your right to the means of self defense is subjugated to their desire to FEEL safe (instead of actually being safe).

[…] Eight people shot in #1 Brady Ranked southern California. Hard to say if this one was another loon, or just a gang conflict gone horribly awry. Doesn’t really matter too much. California’s strict gun laws failed to protect these people in either instance. […]

I think it’s the urge to “do something”. Everything is about exerting control. Anti-gun legislation has never been about results. It can’t be. There aren’nt any. Ever. So it has to be about “do something” and control.

Technically, I don’t think the streets of Los Angeles are “gun-free zones” in the sense that schools and many shopping malls are. Someone with a California CCW permit could, after all, legally carry, rare though that occurrence would be.

Jurjen, I read once that there were somthing like 500 CCW permits in all of LA…most of them celebritys and uber-wealthy. Essentially that’s like saying Washington DC isn’t gun-free because cops and secriet service are packing guns. Nope, “Regular people” can’t carry in LA.
Also Sebastian, in some cases its people who can’t (or won’t) make a distinction between a justifiable homicide and Murder….or even scarier, only see the difference if the Homicide is done by a person in uniform….
