From the Really, REALLY Stupid Gun Control Law Files

Filed under: Uncategorized — Administrator @ 4:18 am

Read the citizens’ reports on the testimony for MD’s proposed ammo serialization bill, HB517. You’re basically required to turn in all non compliant ammo (yeah, like that’s gonna fly) and only use the encoded, serialized stuff…which, of course, is patented by one of the bill’s most ardent supporters, who came to testify in favor of the bill and had to admit that he stood to make bazillions of dollars if it passed.

In short, it’s a de facto gun ban by way of making ammunition impossible to come by (at least for law abiding folk…criminals will just import ammo from elsewhere).

Update: Kirk has a much more detailed rundown, give it a look. Shows you how desparate gun controllers are getting–they can’t take our guns away, and have pretty much given up on it…so now they’re reduced to this sort of malfeasance. Public rejecting your basic policy premises outright? Try a surreptitious end-around like taxing ammo out of existence.

Add this to the long list of gun control measures that only impact the law abiding.

  1. […] PGP has the skinny on Maryland’s ammo serialization bill, which would involve having all residents turn in all non-compliant ammo and only use the stamped stuff. […]

  2. We can thank Delegates Smigiel and Dwyer for bitch slapping both Burns and Russ Ford (the patent holder).

They, along with Shank and McComas, did a good job of handling this for us.

  3. Better yet, be sure to pickup all your cases at the range. Otherwise someone might leave yours at their crime scene!
