Check out VCDL’s coverage of the Lie-In in Richmond, complete with a really wretched, atonal rendition of We Shall Overcome. You’ll hear an anti woman bellow “how dare people laugh?”
Why were people laughing? Because comparing your efforts to deny us a basic civil right (a right the KKK and post Civil War racists tried quite hard to deny freed slaves, and a right Jim Crow tried and still does try to deny minorities to this day) to the struggle of 1960s era Civil Rights workers is goddamn laughable.
All those armed pro-gun rights protesters standing around, all with their sidearms…and yet no one was shot. Go figure.
Wanna see how willing the antis are to misrepresent the truth? Check out their (heavily edited) version of the same event, with misleading commentary about gun show loopholes that don’t exist and commentary about NRA and VCDL members “not invited” to PUBLIC protests in a PUBLIC area.
Unreal.

How telling it is that the comments for the anti’s version of events on youtube has been disabled.
Reasoned discourse my ass…

This seems to be the meme from the spanking they got in RIchmond. I alerted the VCDL crowd to the allegations (first?) made on WAMU last Friday, and repeated on the RainsingKaine blog. It seems the talking point has gone viral now.

A friend of mines works at WAMU…wonder if they’d do an interest piece on MSI…

Clarification: the “first” refers to the WAMU broadcast of the Kojo Nnamdi show where two prominent gun control supporters claimed that “VCDL” members “taunted and disrupted a silent vigil” the day of the hearings. I think that was the first mention of this “disruption” in the mass media.
I think this would be a great opportunity if we have an “in” at WAMU.

When I heard that pro-gun protesters had taunted and abused victims of the Virginia Tech shootings, I was appalled. “That’s not going to help,” I thought, “and it’s despicable to boot.”
But this morning, there was a “Gun Guys” email in my inbox and it was all about the pro-gun protesters taunting and abusing victims. I breathed a sigh of relief.
If the “Gun Guys” reported it, there’s no way it happened. I don’t even need to see the video.

Anyone who was there knows that the claims of “taunting” are comical. For reference, as one who was there, I think what the Washington Post said was right on the money: “[F]amilies of victims of gun violence made emotional and sometimes fiery pleas for more restrictive gun laws. Gun-rights advocates quietly held up signs that said: “Life is precious. Guns protect it,” and “Freedom is not a loophole.”"
