James Na Editorial

I thought the author’s larger point, that most of the gun control movement’s efforts are after-the-fact emotional reactions made in the name of “appearing to be doing something”, was pretty interesting and matched an impression I’ve had for some time.

Predictably, the counter editorial from WA state’s version of Ceasefire was the usual morbid recounting of the dire sounding gun stats, full of the usual distortions (including suicides and justifiable homicides with the murder numbers to make it sound worse, etc). Naturally no mention of the fact that attempts to remove lawfully owned guns in places like Baltimore and DC certainly haven’t panned out.

  1. A majority of citizens would like common-sense measures to close the gaping gun show loophole so that criminals, the mentally ill, and terrorists can’t buy assault weapons, but the well-funded gun lobby and weak politicians deny the scope of this public-health crisis that kills hundreds each year and shatters our sense of security.

There, I think I hit everything in one paragraph.

  2. Dude, pretty good. You can be a secret agent, and infiltrate the other side, see what they’re up to. :)

I love going to gun shows. I’ve yet to see a bunch of guys in gang colors with MS13 tattoos lining up to buy crates of AK47s and grenade launchers. But it’s such an appealing urban myth. ;)
