Webhost gave me a plugin that’ll disable it, but has no idea how to install it…and neither do I. I speak politics and rights, but I don’t speak geek.
On my WordPress control panel I have a tab for Plug Ins, but it tells me to go to a directory that doesn’t exist.
Anybody have an interest in helping me unfuck this? I don’t read RSS Feeds and didn’t even know I had one. I’m actually quite comfortable with my blog illiteracy.

Are you saying you want to disable your RSS feed? If so, why? You’ll lose a lot of regular readers that way.

Spam issues…are you not getting spammed by my RSS feed?

Upgrade wordpress.

I follow your Blog via Firefox’s “live bookmarks” on RSS…I guess I can manually check after visiting Uncle’s, but…

Nope, I haven’t seen any spam coming through. I’m on your Atom feed using a firefox plugin called “brief” to read it. I haven’t seen spam one from your feed.

If you really want to do this, try creating the directory that Wordpress is looking for, put the plug-in in it, and then see if you can see it in the tab.
I don’t know if that will work or not…I don’t use wordpress…but it seems logical to me.

Actually I withdraw the last. The atom feed also has spam when viewed in googlereader.
Sailorcut: I think the reader you are using loads the actual blog entry skipping the spam. Mail on macs does that and that is why I thought the atom feed was clean.

You’d be much better off upgrading your WP install and trying to find the problem. You’ll lose more than 100 readers who read through Google alone.

Ditto. You’ll lose me for sure.

FWIW, I’ve never seen any spam through your RSS feed (automatic filtering?) and I find RSS extremely useful as it allows me to read your blog on my phone, on my tablet PC and on my computer (all while keeping track of what I’ve already read, new posts, stuff I want to save, etc).

RSS is one of the better things since sliced bread for blogs. There are exactly 2 sites I follow right now without feeds, and both are comics. One I’m considering dropping

Hmm sounds like WP upgrade is the way to go…apologies to those who’re getting spammicized. I’m probably gonna have to switch webhosts to someone more helpful. I don’t even remember how to log into the host’s control panel to do a WP upgrade.

You should be doing WP upgrades anyway because of security issues. The same goes for any plugins.
