Watching the news coverage of his switch to the Democratic Party; Rep. Nita Lowey (D-Never heard of her, but apparently from New York) was on MSNBC saying that she was excited he wouldn’t to face the “negativity” he faced from his old party on the gun issue. Huh? I guess she was saying his party switch would mean another anti-gun vote in the Senate?
My guess is even with a filibuster proof Senate (on most issues), they’re still not going to waste political capital on AWBs and the like (though the hold up on national park carry is worrisome). Why? The 60 Senator majority (won’t it be 61 when Franken is finally seated?) isn’t 60 Senators when it comes to gun control. There are too many Webbs, Testers, Feingolds, and Nelsons who don’t toe the party line on the gun banning nonsense.
