Much is being made of Jadegold’s temper tantrum about his/her comments being censored by pro-gun bloggers (ah, the pantheon of anti-freedom trolls…Iverglas, Jadegold, Kelli, Macca from the Brady Campaign, etc…what a classy bunch!). Uncle, Guav, Thirdpower, and TOS have pretty well torpedoed that nonsense, which is almost a shame for dignifying it with any response at all. I have little else to add other than “geeze, shouldn’t an anti-gunner have to check whether an argument will at least pass the smell test once in a while?”

Aside from Bryan Miller and Robyn Ringler’s blogs deleting comments and the Brady Bunch simply turning them off, has anyone forgotten that my gay rights loving, global warming fearing, biodiesel brewing, abortion rights favoring, flag-burning-shouldn’t-be-banned-believing, concerned about healthcare costs arse has been banned from DU several times, had comments zapped on Washington Monthly, been banned from Democrats.com, been chased off TPM Cafe by hordes of people insisting that my gun possession is a sign of mental illness, and been repeatedly told by the Kelli wannabes over on DKos that I’m really a stealth conservative?

I mean…please. It’s almost a shame to have to point out that nobody with a pulse and an IQ approaching room temperature really thinks antigunner sentiments are deleted from gunblogger sites. It’s like arguing that the media bias favors the RKBA position–you’d have to be completely divorced from reality to think that’s the case. There are some arguments and positions so bizarre, so clearly untenable, so obviously insane that they require very little exposition before dispensing with them entirely.

In other words, the idea that antigunner comments are routinely deleted by gun bloggers is something you can fertilize lawns with, and everybody goddamn well knows it. It’s one of those things where holding any position to the contrary is a surefire sign you’re a jackass. Nuff said.

For the record, Jadegold et al haven’t ever darkened my doorstep, the few antigun trolls I’ve picked up haven’t stayed long of their own accord. The only person whose comments I’ve ever even threatened to zap came from a homophobic troll who wandered in from Clayton Cramer’s site. In point of fact, I even told him he could continue hurling personal insults and belittlements at me and could keep on spewing hateful crap about what an evil, misguided, destined for hell person my half-sister is on a site that I pay for…he just couldn’t hide behind an anonymous user name to do it.

You can post all the petty, hateful, antifreedom, gun hating bile you want here. You can even do it anonymously as long as you’re not purposefully rude to me.
