This isn’t firearms related per se, but it’s good example of something liberals and conservatives, gunnies and non-gunnies can come together on.
Regardless of your take on the current Iraq war, the fighting men and women over there are worthy of our respect and admiration, without question. This poor fellow was just doing his job and lost his life in the process. His death shouldn’t be used as bait for outlandish religious fanatics to promulgate their twisted message.
Needless to say these folks are about as sick as you can get; even if you’re dumb or crazy enough to think God is punishing us for “tolerating” homosexuality, taking advantage of this poor family’s worst nightmare–their child, dead and gone, killed in the line of duty–to spread your hate filled bile is well beneath contempt. Frankly I rather doubt there’s such a thing as hell per se, but if there was, I like to think these folks have first class tickets lined up.
In any event, if you’re in the area and can make it up there tomorrow morning, do so. It’ll mean a lot to the family that people are there to shout down these idiots, and that people are trying to help when hate-addled idiots are compounding their worst nightmare.
